Why do certain countries still have capital punishments?
Crimes and punishment exist in different forms around the world today. However, every country has its method of passing justice and also regulations for each offense. Some countries have death as the penalty for a specific offense, but the same offense may not be punishable by death in another country. Why do some countries still have capital punishments?
There are hundreds of millions of people in prison worldwide. About two-thirds of the world have put an end to the death penalty rule and is looking to detach justice from the murder act. Most states in the United States of America still permit the death penalty.
You are more likely to go to prison if you live in America than in the united kingdom, and the chances are higher that you will go to prison in Germany. You are more likely to go to prison in these countries, than if you lived in North Korea. And less likely to go to prison if you live in China.
In America, there are at least 2,500 prisoners currently on death row and awaiting their day. Firing squad and hanging used to be the main way to execute individuals on death row, until some states switched to the gas chamber and electric chair, a more humane way to carry out the penalty on them.
Lethal injection in America today remains the primary method of killing, but evidence has revealed that this method itself is extremely painful and makes the individual die an extremely painful death – thus prompting some states within the country to bring back the old way such as hanging and firing squad, and beheading by a guillotine.
Conclusion
There are other several other countries that enforce the death penalty law, and each of these countries may have the same or different execution methods. Some execution methods may be considered based on the offense committed by the individual.
Some other countries include; Indonesia, Egypt, Nigeria, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Pakistan, etc. Some offenses that will lead to the death penalty in some countries are; Murder, rape, robbery, drug trafficking, arson, etc.
